The County Sealer of Weights and Measures continually checks to see that merchants' scales are properly calibrated, that packages actually contain the quantitiy they advertise, and that gasoline pumps are accurate. This department also collects gasoline samples for octane testing by New York State. In addition, through the consumer affairs hotline, the County Sealer mediates disputes between customers and Saratoga County merchants and contractors and refers unresolved matters to the State Attorney General's Office when appropriate.
