Bush's Greenhouse

Thank you to Ray and Lori from Bush's Greenhouse for their donation and planting of flowers in the front of the Animal Shelter. They are beautiful!

Birthday Donations

We want to thank Megan Nair and Kendra Trimbach for their donations to the animal shelter. These two generous children asked for donations to the animal shelter for their birthday instead of gifts for themselves. What a wonderful, thoughtful and caring thing to do! Thank you!

BJ'S Wholesale Club

The shelter would like to thank BJ's Wholesale Club, its employees, and all their customers who donated to the shelter during their goods drive.

On March 20th through April 5th, 2009, BJ's Wholesale Club sponsored a goods drive to benefit local animal shelters at three of their clubs.

We were privileged to be one of the shelters chosen to hand in our wish list and be a recipient of these generous donations at the BJ's Wholesale Club located on 3067 Route 50 in Saratoga Springs.

The shelter received a nice supply of dog and cat food for the animals in our charge.

Thank you for helping BJ's in their response to the overwhelming challenge that shelters are facing in this economic climate.

Ballston Spa Penney Harvest

We want to thank the students from the Ballston Spa Schools for all the pennies they collected and donated to the animal shelter.

The students at the Ballston Spa Middle School chose us and donated $1000.00 worth to be put towards the new shelter

The students at the Milton Terrace N Elementary School chose us and donated $1250.00 worth to be used to spay our feline friends before they are adopted.

We really appreciate all those who donated their pennies, they sure add up.

Pampered Pooch and Milton Terrace Students

We want to express our appreciation to Mike from Pampered Pooch for allowing the kids from Milton Terrace to hold an adoption clinic at the store on Saturday 5/23.  While there were not many animals adopted, it gave the kids an insight on pet adoption and responsible ownership.

Milton Terrace Third Graders Donations

We wish to express our appreciation to Ms. Spratt's & Ms. Van Volkenburg's 3rd grade class at Ballston Spa Milton Terrace Elementary School. The kids donated food, toys, treats, leashes, blankets. D.I.N.E.

What they do...

Dine is a small not for profit organization that:

  1. Provides essential items to dogs in the care of the shelters and rescues in NY State Capital Region.

  2. Offers the Community Education to students.

What they did for the Saratoga County Animal Shelter...

Donated Kuranda Beds and Kong toys.

We would like to thank Ray and Kathleen from DINE (Dogs in Need Everywhere) for providing the dogs with kuranda beds. These beds give the dogs a dry and comfortable place to sleep and lay during the day. All the dogs have beds now,  Kathleen and Ray have moved on to help the next shelter.

 Sloppy Kisses

The Saratoga County Animal Shelter staff and animals would like to thank Sloppy Kisses for its donations and continuing support.  It is greatly appreciated. Thank you Sloppy Kisses.

Wilton Youth Sells Bracelets to Aid The Saratoga County Animal Shelter

(Saratoga Springs, NY) – Madison Dallas (age 9) of Wilton decided to do something different this summer. Rather than trying to make a few bucks by setting up the traditional lemonade stand at the end of the driveway, Madison started her own business called “Madison’s Beaded Creations”. She makes beaded bracelets, most of them with canine related sayings like “dog lover”, “pets rule” and “bark”. Instead of keeping the proceeds from the sale of the bracelets, Madison is donating them to The Saratoga County Animal Shelter.
Madison’s parents, Melanie and Eugene, own the area dog boutique Sloppy Kisses (Downtown Saratoga and Clifton Park Center). Many of Sloppy Kisses fundraising activities benefit The Saratoga County Animal Shelter in their pursuit of building a larger and more modern animal shelter. “I’ve been to the shelter a few times with my mom and dad to donate treats to the shelter dogs. They really need to build a better building for them,” commented Madison. “I love to make these bracelets and thought donating money to the shelter would be a good idea. My goal is to raise $150 before the end of the summer.” Madison’s bracelets sell for $1.00 or $2.00 depending on if they have a clasp or not and can be purchased at Sloppy Kisses. So far, Madison has raised $80. For more information call Melanie Dallas at (518) 587-2207.

Yappy Hour

On Sunday, May 31st, Sloppy Kisses held their first Yappy Hour at the Backstretch Tap Room and Terrace, 38 Caroline Street in Saratoga Springs.  The theme for this Yappy Hour was Beach Party.   Red Cottage Photography was there taking pictures of the dogs. For a small donation, the dogs' owners could have the picture made into a magnet. The Saratoga County Animal Shelter was very fortunate to be the beneficiary of the donations received from this event.

A big Thank You to Mike from Red Cottage Photography for taking pet pictures.  We received 130.00 from the sale of magnets with the pets picture on them.  This donation will be used towards the new facility.

And, of course, a BIG THANK YOU  to everyone who participated. Your support is deeply appreciated.

Fourth of July 2009 Patriotic Pooch March

Thank you Sloppy Kisses for the proceeds from the Patriotic Pet Pooch March on July 4th.  There were 52 dogs that marched in the parade and $260.00 was raised for the shelter.  Eugene and Melanie's goal for next year is to have 100 dogs in the parade.  Mark your calendar now and give them a call next year.
