About Election Inspectors
Election Inspectors ensure fair, honest elections and protect the rights and privacy of every voter in accordance with New York State Election Law. Election Inspectors are registered voters who declare to work for either the Democratic or Republican Party on Election Day. Please consider signing up to be an election inspector and become part of the backbone of American elections.

Qualifications
Election Inspectors are a critical part of America’s democracy. Elections simply could not be done without inspectors. They are on the frontline of ensuring access to the polls. For every election, each party must have up to two inspectors assigned to each election district. Inspectors for both parties must also be present for a Primary Election, regardless of the party holding the election. Registered voters who are not members of any party are still eligible to be election inspectors.

General Election Qualifications & Requirements

o Be able to speak, read, & write English
o Be a registered voter in Saratoga County if 18 or older
o Be at least 17 years old
o Attend annual inspector training
o Be familiar/willing to get familiar with using iPads and printers

Early Voting Qualifications & Requirements

o Must attend annual Election Day & Early Voting Training
o Must have worked at least 1 Election Day prior
o Must work at the Board of Elections poll site for your first Election
o Required to work Election Day to work Early Voting
o Note that only the Board of Elections staff schedule Early Voting Inspectors
o Note that inspectors will not be assigned to work every day of Early Voting

Work Hours
All inspectors work on General Election Day in November from 5:30AM until 10PM. Some inspectors will also work for a Primary or a Special Election, usually 5:30AM until 10PM. Inspectors may also sign up to work Early Voting days, from 8:30AM until 6PM or 11:30AM to 9PM. All inspectors will be given breaks throughout the day, including a lunch break.

Pay Rates
• Election Day: $260/day
• Early Voting: $150/day

Training
Yearly training and testing are required for Election Inspectors. Training is held at the Board of Elections Office in the months leading up to the Primary and General Election, at varying times and dates. Election Inspectors who work on Election Day are paid $25 for attending training.
