Civil Service Positions
Civil Service Examinations are administered throughout the year for competitive class positions and are updated regularly.  To be eligible for a particular exam, minimum qualifications must be met and clearly stated on your application.  The process involves obtaining an application, filling it out, and sending it back to this office before the filing deadline.  If you meet the qualifications, you should expect to receive an admission letter approximately one week prior to the date of the exam.

The New York State Department of Civil Service publishes test guides for some examinations that are designed to familiarize candidates with the test format and subject areas and a general guide to help you better understand civil service examinations and written tests.
