Diabetes is a chronic disease that affects how your body turns food into energy; your body either doesn’t make enough insulin or can’t use the insulin it makes as well as it should. PreDiabetes is a serious health condition where blood sugar levels are higher than normal, but not high enough to be diagnosed as type 2 diabetes. PreDiabetes put you at risk to develop diabetes.

Saratoga County Public Health Services(SCPHS) and Saratoga Hospital have joined with Community Partners throughout Saratoga County to form the Saratoga County Prediabetes Coalition. In addition to SCPHS and the hospital, Coalition members include representatives from Capital District YMCA, Cornell Cooperative Extension of Saratoga County, Franklin Community Center, Saratoga Region YMCA, Saratoga Lions Club, Wesley Community, Saratoga County Office for the Aging, Southern Adirondack Library System, Cornell Cooperative Extension of Albany County, and individual community members.
This Coalition meets monthly and provides support & education to interested parties. The Coalition also provides resources & educational materials to health care providers for distribution to their patients & clients.
