The Saratoga County Department of Health is holding the training and the Town of Halfmoon is sponsoring the event, in conjunction with the Town of Clifton Park.

Narcan, also known as naloxone, is a safe medication that can reverse an opioid overdose and save an individual’s life. Narcan only works on opioids, such as heroin, prescription pain medications, and fentanyl, but it is safe to use even if opioids are not present. With proper training, anyone can learn how to effectively use Narcan and carry it with them in case of an emergency.

During the training on Aug. 15, participants will learn how to recognize an opioid overdose and administer nasal Narcan, which takes roughly 10 minutes. People will receive a free Narcan rescue kit that includes two doses of Narcan, a rescue breathing face shield, a certificate of training, a drug disposal system, and a mental health and substance use disorder resource guide.

“Narcan is a vital tool in our fight against the opioid epidemic that has claimed too many lives. We are proud to partner with Saratoga County, Clifton Park, and the Clifton Park-Halfmoon Public Library to offer this opportunity for our residents to learn how to save a life with Narcan,” Halfmoon Town Supervisor Kevin Tollisen said in a news release.

August 9 at 10AM: Goal Setting. This workshop explores how goal setting works, why goals are important, and provides helpful resources to get you started to reach your dreams. Facilitated by Washington and Albany.

August 17 at 11AM: Completing Job Applications. Statistics show approximately 50% of mid-sized companies and almost all large corporations use an applicant tracking system to screen candidates for job opportunities. Learn how to prepare your online application to get the most visibility from hiring managers. Facilitated by Warren and Washington.

August 22 at 11AM: Overcoming Barriers. Join an informal discussion about how to overcome potential stumbling blocks to finding a job. Whether you’re facing transportation needs, childcare needs, prior justice system involvement, inexperience, health concerns or more, this
workshop will provide you with resources and strategies to help you meet your goals. Facilitated by Saratoga and Fulton-Montgomery-Schoharie.

August 24 at 1:30PM: Social Media. Your social media presence can make or break your ability to find a job. Learn how to use social media to your advantage in searching for a job and marketing yourself to land the job or career you’ve always wanted. Facilitated by Schenectady.

The Saratoga County Department of Workforce Development provides comprehensive training and employment services to residents through its Career Center and works with local businesses to attract and retain the local workforce.

This important program helps many seniors, age 60 and older, remain independent in their homes by providing them with a nutritious ready-to-eat lunch each weekday.

Meals are picked up at 11AM and delivered until 1PM. Volunteers’ schedules are flexible to meet their availability.

To become a volunteer, individuals must submit paperwork, including references, to the Saratoga County Department of Aging and Youth Services. Volunteers must have a valid driver license and their own vehicle. Training and orientation are provided to all volunteers.

Being a volunteer for this program is a gratifying experience as seniors look forward to seeing a friendly face with their meals.

Please bring your own chairs to the events. Admission is free, and donations are appreciated to support future events.

The event features 18th-centry living historians who will answer questions and provide demonstrations before the speaker program begins at 7pm. Children will have the opportunity to try out 18th century toys and games, along with replica colonial clothing.

These events will take place outdoors. In case of inclement weather, the program will be cancelled.
