October 2023 Message from County Administrator Steve Bulger:
The autumn season is underway throughout Saratoga County, as apple picking, corn mazes, hayrides, and foliage tours kick into high gear for people of all ages to enjoy. We had a very successful summer season across the County, with record breaking numbers at the Racetrack and SPAC along with visitors to our beautiful lakes. The Saratoga National Battlefield is also seeing an uptick in visitors as the 250th Anniversary of the Turning Point of the Revolution approaches.
Our Board of Supervisors remains focused on maintaining our County’s position as one of the safest across the state. Partnering with Sheriff Mike Zurlo and District Attorney Karen Heggen, our Supervisors have made significant investments over the past two years in public safety, including body and dash cams, new training and protective equipment, an increased number of School Resource Officers, and new contracts with both our PBA and Corrections Officers unions. To support our critical Volunteer Firefighters, they also approved funding for a new Fire Training Tower, new Hazardous Material Response Truck, and direct funding to help recruit new volunteers.
We continue to be proud to be ranked the Healthiest County out of all 62 counties in New York State by US News & World Report, which takes into account many metrics including education, housing, economic activity, and equity. This as Saratoga County continues to enjoy both the lowest Sales Tax and Property Tax Rates in the entire State, which we believe are the two key drivers of our growth and success.
Here at County Government, we are focused on constantly improving the delivery and efficiency of services that our residents expect and deserve. Please reach out to any of our Departments if we may be of assistance, and thank you for all you do to help Saratoga County attain the great quality of life we enjoy!
