Update from County Administrator Steve Bulger:
As we roll into another spectacular summer season across Saratoga County, we are indeed blessed to live in such a great place that offers so many things to enjoy for all ages. All indications point to very strong tourism and recreation activity across the board this summer, including at SPAC, the Race Track, Sacandaga & Saratoga Lakes, the Saratoga National Battlefield, and many other attractions that we have to offer. This is particularly good news following the impacts of the pandemic during the past couple years.
Our Board of Supervisors continues to take action to help our residents and businesses thrive and grow during these times of high inflation. The Board recently enacted legislation that lowers our County sales tax on motor fuel purchases, which is expected to save our residents nearly $6 million at the pump through the end of the year. This on top of the fact that Saratoga County already has the lowest Sales Tax and Property Tax Rates out of all 62 counties across the State. The Board also approved $2 million in direct funding support to nearly 200 non-profit groups that provide County residents with needed services, including food pantry and housing supports.
We are also moving forward with big plans to celebrate the approaching 250th Anniversary of the Revolutionary War Victory at Saratoga, known as America’s Turning Point. This will include collaboration with our schools, heritage and historical groups, and tourism organizations.
Here at County Government, we are focused on constantly improving the delivery and efficiency of services that our residents expect and deserve. Please reach out to any of our Departments if we may be of assistance, and thank you for all you do to help Saratoga County attain the great quality of life we enjoy!
