2023 1st Quarter Update from County Administrator Steve Bulger:
As we move forward into 2023, Saratoga County continues to thrive by all measures. The winter season is very lively across the County with outdoor winter sports, festivals, and other activities that provide our residents and visitors with lots of opportunities to enjoy a different side of what our County has to offer.
Here at County government, the Board of Supervisors has passed a fiscally responsible budget that not only lowers the County’s Property Tax Rate by 5%, but also doesn’t use any reserve funds to balance the budget for the first time in many years. This is indeed good news for our taxpayers, especially in this challenging time of high inflation.
We are also moving ahead with many important initiatives, including new programs utilizing opioid settlement funding to help reduce both the prevalence and the impacts of the growing opioid addiction scourge that affects so many. We continue to invest in infrastructure projects like the County Airport Facility Project, road and bridge upgrades, and new technology to help us deliver services to our residents in the most efficient and effective way possible.
We remain proud to be ranked the Healthiest County out of all 62 counties in New York State by US News & World Report, which takes into account many metrics including education, housing, economic activity, and equity. This on top of the fact that Saratoga County already has both the lowest Sales Tax and Property Tax Rates in the entire State, which are the two key drivers of our success.
Here at County Government, we are focused on constantly improving the delivery and efficiency of services that our residents expect and deserve. Please reach out to any of our departments if we may be of assistance. Thank you for all you do to help Saratoga County attain the great quality of life we enjoy!
