Administrator’s Message Winter 2025
I’m happy to report to our residents that Saratoga County remains in strong fiscal health as we enter 2025. This success is rooted in our longstanding commitment to fiscal conservatism, which has laid the foundation for our thriving population and tax base.

It is well known that our County maintains the two key metrics that have propelled our strong growth: the lowest county sales tax rate and the lowest county property tax rate among all upstate counties in New York. But that conservative approach to taxes is made possible by our efficient spending of your tax dollars, as evidenced by the following:
• Saratoga County’s 2025 projected Per Resident Spend Rate ($1,810) is 13.8% lower than the next lowest (Monroe) county’s rate ($2,061).
• Saratoga County’s 2025 Per Resident Spend Rate is 44.5% lower than the average rate for all 57 New York counties outside of NYC.

These are remarkable numbers that highlight the fact that our County government is focused on maintaining fiscal discipline with our spending, while at the same time increasing needed investments in our workforce, public safety, health initiatives, and essential services for our seniors, youth, and the disadvantaged.
