The Board of Supervisors is the legislative and executive authority of County government.  Nineteen of the Supervisors serve on the Board, as part of their duties as chief elected officials in their respective towns, while 2 Supervisors represent the City of Saratoga Springs, 1 Supervisor represents the Town of Clifton Park, and 1 Supervisor represents the City of Mechanicville, on the County level.

Each Supervisor has a weighted vote based on population.  Essentially, every Supervisor votes the entire population of their town or city at every Board vote, with some minor exceptions – Saratoga Springs and Clifton Park each have two Supervisors whose vote represents half of the population of their respective municipalities.  The Clerk of the Board serves in many capacities in addition to recording and publishing the deliberations and decisions of the Board of Supervisors.

Rules for addressing the Board of Supervisors at Regular Monthly Meetings, Special Board Meetings and Monthly Agenda Sessions

No person shall be permitted to address a Regular Board Meeting, Agenda Session or special meeting of the Board of Supervisors unless twenty-four (24) hours’ prior notice is given by phone to the Clerk of the Board by calling 518-885-2240.   If there is a Holiday on the Monday before the Board Meeting and the County Offices are closed, notice must be given by the Friday before the Board meeting at 4pm.    If there is a Holiday before an Agenda Session or Special Meeting notice must be given the day before the Holiday.  You will be asked to provide your name, address, phone number and the subject matter. There is a three (3) minute time limit and you may not transfer your time to another person.  All written comments will be accepted and filed with the meeting minutes. 

Due to public health and safety concerns related to COVID-19, the public will not be permitted in-person access to the meeting.  The public will have an opportunity to hear the meeting live via an audio signal using a call-in number and access code which will be provided prior to the meeting.  Written comments will be accepted into the record as public comment. These comments should be emailed to pwright@saratogacountyny.gov.  Please submit  your comments 24 hours prior to the meeting.
